  1. What a freaking waste. Such a useless second half, several players looking rough and ref decisions leave me screaming at the television.
  2. Such a frustrating half. Inconsistency problems still rearing their ugly little heads.
  3. Let’s go boys! No brainless errors at the back and no brainless decisions by Taylor. A man can hope, can’t he? Apparently it’s the hope that kills you, they say.
  4. Well, what's the verdict? Did you turn on the game or didn't you?
  5. Courtois should have done better but good goal from Madueke.
  6. Yea, Florida has not a ton going for it...unless you like alligator farms. No judgement from me if you do!
  7. With the heat and humidity, Florida is wet and miserable as well.
  8. I think this is the most likely scenario, with a little bit of ambiguity thrown in for good measure. What likely happened is that the new management team made it clear to Conor that he was surplus to requirements, didn't fit the system, etc. (and already brought in KDH!) They didn't want him leaving for free (as you said), so they offered him a new 2-year deal and improved wages. He's coming into his prime, doesn't want to be a squad player and doesn't want settle for that deal, so he's decided to move on. Chelsea acting in good faith notwithstanding, they say, "Well, we tried, everyone." So, as @Ham said, Conor's team can't come out and rebut because, technically, it's true. Chelsea knew that, if Conor accepted the deal, they'd still look to ship him out. And, if he didn't, they could come out with the message that they tried. A lot of half-truths to these kinds of stories. Or, lies of omission—however you choose to look at it.
  9. @chara I've been fly fishing in Estes Park, although that was about 23 years ago. Still, doesn't seem like that far of a travel from Ohio. If I ever move to London and the Women's Handball Championship ends up back in Belgrade, I'll have some context to aid in the decision to make the trip or not.
  10. Haha, you can say that again. Thanks for the welcome! My 9 year old plays on a travel team and I'm used to sitting on the sidelines and offering one-or-two-word encouragements to him and his teammates. "Yes." "Good pass." "Pressure." "Shot!" That kind of stuff. Needless to say, the people around me probably weren't pleased at my inability to turn that off when I was watching the shambolic defending last weekend!
  11. Thanks everyone! And @JaneB, I know who runs the show, here. @chara I don't watch much of the news, but hadn't heard of the wild fires in CO. I'm located in north central Ohio, so making the trip to Columbus (about an hour away) made more sense but, like I said, being a lifelong Notre Dame fan, couldn't pass up the opportunity to see CFC in South Bend. Only wish the game would have turned out better (kids were unable to see Nkunku's penalty through their tears and were legitimately upset at Celtic fans for chanting the entire game). But, I'm sure we'll look back on it fondly in due time.
  12. We'll give a go at this, although nobody's posted in this thread for almost a year (!). I've lurked on this forum for years—enough to have appreciated the first Transfer thread—but have been following the club, (albeit from America) since the 2009 season. Now it's my joy to share CFC with my two boys (12 and 9) who are admittedly gutted at the possibility of Gallagher leaving the club. Our first Chelsea game was last weekend in South Bend where, growing up 20 minutes from Notre Dame and being a big fan, I wasn't going to miss seeing my beloved Chelsea play for the first time at a stadium I've been to over two dozen times. Look forward to sharing victories with the rest of you in the coming seasons!
