Mind Chalobah signed professional 5 years 7 months ago and was non-playing sub in an FA cup final soon after. Then he went on loan for 3 seasons and made his debut in August 2021. So arguably he is just 2 years 2 months with the first team squad. Below him McGinn and Kilman were experienced pros when they arrived at Villa and Wolves though Kilman didn't play often for 2 years. The teams were promoted in 2017 and 2018 so a big turnover in longer term staff is expected. Where is mo salah signed 1-jul-2017 for dippers

My Blood Is Blue Posted December 22, 2023 Author Posted December 22, 2023 Watching the League Cup final from 14/15 on Sky Sports, when we beat Spurs 2-0 (a special game for me in particular as I actually got to do some work around this final, with both teams and players), what a difference between then and now… quite literally a team full of men back then whereas now it’s a team full of boys. A back 4 of Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta… solid is an understatement. Costa up front, being fed by Fabregas and Hazard and Willian on the wings. We were blessed for so many years, and I do hope we get back to those days in the not too distant future. 1 2

THE REST AS, HAS BEEN MENTIONED, IS B'SH#T PIFFLE!!! You are right. But given we want more goals scored, fewer against and more points, what is it that we can change in order to achieve that, and which things give us the most bang for the buck? Stats are handy for that, but only as a tool to verify what we see on the pitch. For example, I see opportunities made and not taken. The xG stat is not my favourite because it misses the details, but it seems to support that idea. So we need to focus some of our training on intuitive first-time finishing (i.e. building muscle memory to take chances early) and encourage players to do so in games, Edited January 1, 2024 by Sciatika 4

The site ran for almost 20 years with constant talk about chances created, shots, shots on target and corners. it accepted Possession as a stat of interest quite happily. All were quantity measures with no sense of quality at all yet all were numbers quoted left right and centre on the old forum without a single complaint. But when a decent measure like xG, which resolves all the issues of objectivism and chance quality into a single number, suddenly people freak out. 6 hours ago, kev61 said: It is absolute bollox.XG is for people that want to contribute to football analysis that haven't a clue what it's like to play football in the real world. All over the world Doctors are handing over to Machine Learning tools because they know Machine learning is better at identifying say cancerous growths than the doctor can. But here on cfcnet some people still think their personal judgement is better. 1

It’s clear you’re a VERY smart and interesting guy. Yet sometimes imo you veer into the over-complex to the point it becomes over-analytical.

One is a load of shit - I'll give you that. it is hand waving numbers based on nothing. The other is extremely useful. Maybe it is me. I spent 5 years of my life as an investment analyst looking at historic full sets of accounts and trying to understand the underlying cost structure and use that to predict future cost structures, in the way that Spotrac pretends to or your money guy claims. For those 5 years I heard an awful lot of CFOs speaking to investor conferences about their targets. I have also spent 40-50 hours of my life trying to build Machine Learning models (trivially simple compared to xG but conceptually similar). So to me when I hear bull shit about Chelsea's wage bill falling by £80m I just assume anyone can see it is made up numbers. And when I hear people thinking xG is meaningless I just wonder who are they?
