chrisb Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Just had to Google them to see who they were and where they came from. Won’t be going to the away leg as they’re from Switzerland and I haven’t finished paying the loan off from the two trips to Basle some years ago. 1
Bert19 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I saw there are still tickets available for this earlier. Oh how times have changed.
blueboy1905 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 If we don't win this by at least five goals then we are a joke club.
chara Posted August 18 Posted August 18 (edited) Question..no agenda or hidden motive.... why so much confidence that it will be a walkover for Chelsea ? Anyone have any knowledge of the club and sort of level they are in comparison with the EPL ? Genuine question..I don't know. Can't find any tv/stream coverage over here as yet...anything in UK ? Bert19 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 @chara - i'm presuming this would be on TNT Sports in the UK like all of the other UEFA coverage (if it'll be on at all). Though Rangers CL qualifiers were on BBC last week, so perhaps it could be on.... I think we need to put out a fairly strong side here. We have to get people playing together and into some sort of form. I'd go with largely the same XI as yesterday if at all possible. 1 1
chara Posted August 19 Posted August 19 @Bert19..thanks for making the reply..appreciate that,,,I saw that TNT might be carrying it here but looking at the schedule for Thursday as yet no indication that the game will be shown,,,,,so much for the PR whistle stop tour seeking supporters or such ...posing as pre season training sessions.

Just had a cursory look on the Google and it looks like it's definitely on TNT in the UK.

I think it would be a mistake to underestimate Servette. Every team we face in this competition will view the tie as their CL Final and we're not good enough to change gear if they attempt to bully us. Go for the throat and don't let go.
Proud-Blue Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I know it's only Conference League, but it's gonna feel really good to have European football again. We don't have many seasons without it, but when we do, it feels very wrong. So I'm looking forward to this game. 1 1
JaneB Posted August 19 Author Posted August 19 I have just edited my first post, it is definitely on TNT Sports 👍

I was very wound up when United won the FA Cup, because even if you pretend the Conference League has existed for the last 20 years, 6th would get you Europa nearly 99% of the time. So we were really hard done by. The only seasons where 6th would have been bumped down into Conference (or not got Europe at all) was 2008 (Portsmouth won FA Cup and Spurs League Cup, both finished mid table), 2012 (Liverpool won the League Cup and finished mid-table) and 2013 (Wigan won the FA Cup got relegated and Swansea won the League Cup finished mid table). Usually the winners of the cups are teams that have already qualified for a higher form of Europe, so we were really hard done by. But as the Summer has gone on, I've calmed and started to look forward to the Conference League, and I'll be honest, the quality gap is going to be fun we can see us winning loads, scoring loads and gaining confidence. CONFIDENCE LEAGUE. 1 3

Not that I'd make huge changes here. Madueke and Neto I'd like to see.

Miguelito07 Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Too soon for Felix to be included in the squad for this match?

Plus, I’d be wary of including him on Sunday. Wolves fans are not the most forgiving and he’ll probably get some vile abuse there. Now, he might be the type to thrive and feed off that negativity (assuming it comes his way), but we’ve seen others get effected by similar.

chiswickblue Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Squad list is up on the UEFA website. No list B players yet (so no Colwill, Acheampong, George) and there are always mistakes (assuming Fofana not being there is an error) but there is no Petrovic, Chilwell or Sterling. https://www.uefa.com/uefaconferenceleague/clubs/52914--chelsea/squad/
VA96 Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Is James back yet? Surely give him some mins here/next Thursday seeing as he can't play the league games

I don’t recall Jason Cundy getting much stick, when he went there though. Perhaps because he was nowhere near the loss tha Durie was, and maybe because it was a few years later and circumstances were slightly different??
