My Blood Is Blue Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Chelsea is pleased to announce Jadon Sancho has joined the club on loan from Manchester United, with the Blues having an obligation to sign the England international permanently next summer. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/jadon-sancho-completes-chelsea-move
thevelourfog Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 This isn't a deal I feel at all positive about but given I've said enough elsewhere all I'll say here is ... Christ, those are some shit tattoos for a millionaire to have. 1
Proud-Blue Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Welcome Sancho! Let's hope he can rediscover his Dortmund brilliance.

Sleeping Dave Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 As I’ve said elsewhere, a signing that makes no sense at all. What Maresca’s type of winger really is is anyone’s guess - Madueke, Neto, Mudryk, Nkunku and Sancho all being quite different from each other. Not to mention Palmer and Felix. So many attacking midfielders/wingers one wonders how they’ll all get playing time. Signing Sancho is a huge gamble. Is he any better than Sterling? Probably the answer is no. Is he cheaper than Sterling? Again, probably no. Has he a bigger re-sale value than Sterling? Potentially. A lot of work for very little obvious upside, either from a footballing or financial perspective. Still, he’s here and he’ll be wearing the #19 shirt. Good luck Sancho!
Bison Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 A very underwhelming signing and one only being made because #10 is useless. You know things are bad when one of the supposed upsides of this deal is that we can recoup a decent fee from a Saudi club when it fails.

KingThistle Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Hoping that he doesn't do a Lingard and completely drop off a cliff after moving to London. Agree with the opinion that on his day, Sancho can be marvellous but I feel we're entitled to be wary. Eberechi Eze may have been the more obviously and exciting signing, but let's all hope Sancho gets back to where we have seen his levels can be.

I don't think Palace would have let him go when they'd just let Olise go to Munich
KingThistle Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 By all accounts from Steve Parish, no one showed any interest so we'll never know if they would or wouldn't have entertained an approach. Good player. It'll be interesting to see how Sancho fits in with Palmer, Mudryk, Neto, Nkunku, Felix, and Madueke and what that shape looks like in and out of posession. He's hugely direct at his best and historically has a better end product than Mudryk. I'd guess he'll predominantly be an impact player for the season unless he does what Palmer did last year and makes the decision for the manager by becoming undroppable. In which case we then have a snip of a player at £25m obligation to buy. Straight into the squad for Bournemouth? 3
Proud-Blue Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 (edited) Got man of the match in his first game against Bournemouth. I thought he was magnificent and looked quite liberated being away from Man U. That looked FAR more like the Sancho I used to watch at Dortmund every week. If he keeps that up, left side is 100% his. paulw66 Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Looked ridiculously sharp for someone playing his first game of the season, and I presume didn't feature much for United in their pre-season? 1 2
My Blood Is Blue Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 In Sancho, we've got someone who has the talent and a lot to prove. He will be determined to show he is good enough for this league and will want to succeed at the team he supported as a boy. If he hits the form we know he has, we'll have got ourselves a bargain. He's made an exciting start, but it's about how he now builds from here. 1 1

He's made an exciting start, but it's about how he now builds from here. I'd like him to do well - feels like a while since someone has come to Chelsea and laid their ghosts to rest. If he could prove people wrong wearing our shirt and end up coming for the fee that's been rumoured, that would be a good deal. Early days, but sounds like he made a big difference on Saturday and he showed bravery and creativity with his assist for Nkunku. Fair to say Nkunku himself made the real difference for the goal, but we've had plenty of midfielders and wingers over the last few years that wouldn't have even tried to play the pass Sancho did there. So a positive start 👍 5
