Palmer superb.  Yet another goal for Jackson.  Neto very good first half. Lavia continues to impress.  Only real negative was Madueke, who again put in another half arsed performance. I'd like us to start with Neto and Mudryk midweek.

 

 

I noticed you made no mention of Fernandez coming on after 71 minutes and putting on a masterclass of midfield control to see us over the line.

It would’ve been a soft pen, but then two minutes later Nkunku nicks the ball and would’ve been through on goal, but the ref had other ideas, why didn’t let he the phase of play continue until it was finished, then check VAR if necessary? Also, where did the two bonus minutes come from? I just thought all round he let Newcastle off the hook far too often but we could end up with another fine.

My main issue with it is the fact the ref has given it and I don’t see a clear and obvious mistake that requires VAR to step in and even after they did, the ref should be strong enough to stand by his decision. We have to assume the ref has given the pen (after giving himself a good amount of time to think about it) because he believes the defender puts his hand on Nkunku and pushes/grabs/pulls him enough to cause him to lose balance. If that is the case, what has he seen in the replay that has made him think any differently? He can’t see anything in that replay to make him think differently because the replay proves what he believed to be the foul play in the incident, because the defender does indeed put his hand on Nkunku, causing him to lose balance and therefore he should be strong enough to stand by his own original decision.

It was a soft penalty, but one you’ve seen given many times before and I just don’t see how VAR can call it a clear and obvious error from the ref.

Fortunately it didn’t cost us this time, but it felt like the officials were doing what they could to try and find a way to make the result a draw.

A win is a win end of, but a new goalie is a must, Sanchez can't keep bees and can't even kick a ball straight at times.  Cole Palmer the star man yet again, Jackson and Neto were excellent as well, and James saved our skin right at the end, although on another day it could have been an own goal.  Next game is at their dark, satanic ground o Wednesday, hope we come out on top again.

Yep, although if I had to pick 1 of the 2 to win, it would have been this one, but both would be nice. Expecting a much changed team for the next one.

I would rest key players for the cup game. We should prioritize on the league and the European competition.

Agree,,it's a cup game ..not a CUP GAME...be nice to win but however THEY wrap it up it is always a lesser competition and by the final really only the two side's followers are really bothered..small kudos.

Just watched the Newcastle goal repeatedly..I think the head of the Newcastle player is ahead of the Chelsea boot !...the time it took me to rewatch it was no more than the VAR crew,,they were wrong imho.,,,thin margin but works both ends,,doesn't it?
