If we win this we will go top before Liverpool kick off at Spurs. Huge huge huge. It will be a rare opportunity for us to put the pressure on them, as most of time they play before us.

Funnily enough, but the match Liverpool have in hand are at Goodison. It was postponed due to the storm last week. So extra wonderful if we win at Goodison and go top of the table 🙂

Everton will play extremely deep, and there's no doubt we'll have almost all of the possession.  We're going to have to be patient and be ready for some Dycheball. They're a side most teams have struggled to break down in recent weeks, but they also offer next to nothing going forward. It does mean we need everyone to be focused however, because they'll probably pump it long at some point and then anything can happen.

This kind of game is exactly what Sancho is good at. Hopefully we can use him effectively and get an early goal to eventually force them to come forward. But in general I expect us to be constantly camped around their box, so intelligent movement from Jackson especially is going to be vital.

I'm expecting a low scoring win, and hopefully a clean sheet. If they score first or equalise, they'll probably move their defensive line into their goal.

What's been so impressive this season, is how Maresca has managed to tweak the system based on the opposition, whilst largely still using the same players each time. It shows how well drilled the team are and how much they're buying into the system and tactics Maresca is setting out. What was interesting vs Brentford, was how often we were putting crosses into the box, which isn't something we normally do and I was even more surprised as they aren't the smallest team, but Maresca had clearly spotted a weakness we could exploit, which we did for the first goal. So I expect Maresca to find a way to break down a Sean Dyche team, as long as we can avoid them kicking lumps out of all our players.

Going 1-0 up as early as possible would probably be a good idea here. Disrupt their gameplan and force them to come out at us if they want anything.

If you think I'm doing that on my way from parking the car in Vereker Road to the Bridge, I'm afraid you are sadly mistaken!
