Popular Post asvaberg Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 On behalf of all Norwegian forum members I would like to wish you all a very peaceful, warm hearted and restful holiday. I really appreciate all of you fellow members and Chelsea fans. It's been a pleasure "talking" with you. This year has been a turbulent year for us fans, but now it seems we have found THE Manager and THE players so our CHELSEA will conquer and bring home tons of silverware in the years to come. I hope you will enjoy the picture of our Christmas Village we have assembled for our children and (mostly) grandchildren 8
Popular Post My Blood Is Blue Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas @asvaberg and to all CFCnet members that celebrate it. I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating, however you do it! I’ll be hosting all my family on the big day, so i’m busy preparing, filling the fridge with food, wine and all sorts of good stuff, but taken a moment to enjoy the fire and the feel good festive feeling. 6
Popular Post Sciatika Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 Happy Christmas. As usual, we will close and lock our doors and spend a few days in each other's company, just as we like it. 6
Popular Post chara Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 All that everyone so far has expressed,,Merry Christmas to everyone..... Same as Sciatica says....we will enjoy a quiet time together and as every year the specially tracked down and purchased Christmas pudding will probably go back in the cupboard as we will be too full from Goose, properly cooked vegetables etc and an expensive indulgent bottle of wine (as reported elsewhere!). The miracle of Modern Technology will allow us to speak face to face to all those we care about, Just off to get Mrs C's Christmas flowers and last minute "bits", A final Christmas comment..seems we have a chance of a White Christmas,,,Mountain snow in the forecast. (Oh joy!) 6
Popular Post chrisb Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 I absolutely f*cking love Christmas! I’ve always been the first one up on the big day and have to be restrained from running down stairs at 07:00 to see if Santa’s been by Mrs B. There’s usually only us two and the cats in the morning but this year we have our daughter and her husband over from Hong Kong so they’ll be getting rudely awakened early doors to get up for present opening followed by a dip in the hot tub with some fizzy wine! Ah, Christmas, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! I wish you all a peaceful and enjoyable festive time. 🎄🎄🍺🍺💙 2 5
Popular Post Blue Moon Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 Totally agree, @chrisb, I love it. Not White Christmas here, @chara, more like cold, grey and murky. This year has been an eye-opener - he old forum was never so good - and somehow we all seem to find a way of getting on with each other (despite the odd trolling) - well done to @My Blood Is Blue, @JaneB and @Michael Tucker for keeping their tempers in the face of such provocation. Spent a week or so climbing around the outside of the house and trees sticking up lights, and in particular the naff inflatable Santa, which each year appears in a different bedroom window, to the delight of the octogenarian across the road, if not to the occupant of the bedroom in question. This evening, our clan assemble in wintery Seer Green from as far afield as East Poland, Liss, and Ealing, for a few days of enjoying each other's company. The food is all in the fridge or being prepared, and there is a tapped and tested keg of Roasted Nuts (that's what happens if you sit, manspreading, too close to the fire), The overpriced Christmas wines (Bordeaux for me and my eldest lad, a good-looking Auslese for his missus, beer for the younger lad, G&T for my daughter and bubbly for 'he Who Must Be Obeyed) are chilling in the garage - and a nice bottle of Redbreast 12 year is sitting looking tempting on the snug. Presents are all wrapped - except mine, as SWMBO insists on doing the wrapping last thing so she has something to swear at (apart from yours truly). Merry Christmas to you all, may Santa be open-handed to you and yours, and let's hope that Fulham is feeling similarly generous on Boxing Day! 1 6
My Blood Is Blue Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 @chrisb and @Blue Moon I share your love for this time of year and then some, I really do love it and I always have! I loved it as a kid and the excitement of counting down to the big day and then it was finally there and it was full of laughter, love, presents and food! Wind the clock forward a bit and alcohol got thrown in there as well and now, with kids of my own I love nothing more than making the magic for them and then hosting the day ourselves for all our family - all the preparation and then serving up a treat for all to enjoy. It really is the best time of the year! 4
chara Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Back from the Flower Run,,, Just a couple of add on "festive" bits....paid my dues for the Holidays,,,Last night a marathon on PBS of the past two Christmas Specials of "Call The Midwife"...'nuff said. A very silly but enjoyable Season movie "Red One"..Mrs C didn't like it but I AM a simple minded lad. 3 1
Blue Moon Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Agreed - enjoyed it. Also Click and Collect. I know, no taste at all, but at this time of year … 1 1
Popular Post chara Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 @Blue Moon,,,,as you mentioned earlier the old forum was never so good and the arrival of yet another true CFCnet forum exchange opportunity as this one is just another example. And @My Blood Is Blue and others..that magical moment as a kid waking up in the darkness and feeling the unseen mysteries on the end of my bed..proof that Santa had been yet again and the magic still existed. The cycle repeated as yet another generation of youngster continue the traditions. Truly a chance in worrying and difficult times to wish "Joy To The World." 1 4
Popular Post chrisb Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 We thoroughly enjoyed Red One too @chara! Just finished work for a week and now enjoying the company of our daughter Chelsea and her husband Jordan (we bought him an AFC Wimbledon Santa hat so he wouldn’t feel left out as the rest of us B’s are wearing CFC ones! Bring on the alcohol and let the festivities begin! 1 4
Popular Post Michael Tucker Posted December 23, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2024 Merry Christmas everyone! Hope Santa brings you everything you've wished for, and that you have a happy and safe holiday. 3 3 1
chara Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 (edited) @Michael Tucker...seeing your post reminded me that some have a sunny Holiday and memories for me of Caribbean Christmas and the contrast now with the very real chance of a White Christmas. Sun or Snow.... warmth of The Season wishes for every one..(unless you are wearing a Red Shirt,,I'm not THAT good!) After thought..just read the Wicki entry for Red One...critics hated it and just sneered,,as opposed to the real folks who loved it!😁 Edited December 23, 2024 by chara 1

To illustrate, the former head of the Wikimedia Foundation and current CEO of NPR, Katherine Maher, said: Quote “The Wikipedians who write these articles aren’t focused on finding the truth. For our most tricky disagreements, seeking the truth isn’t the best place to start. Reverence for the truth might have become a bit of distraction that is preventing us from finding consensus and getting important things done.” Wiki is an encyclopedia that prioritizes consensus and activism over the truth. On this basis, Red One may be the greatest film ever made.😀 Edited December 24, 2024 by Sciatika 1 1

Usual aside..I get fed up with being pestered by Wicki for "donations" and even more so by The Guardian......I love Wicki Wandering rambling through obscure and new areas following on from a simple "look up" and I read the Guardian Football for another view of a game or football subject (and BBC,,Mail is too far for me these days!) but would be more inclined to donate something (unlikely) if they didn't go the guilt trip route.

I contribute on energy matters, and have great fun reacting to zealots - usually 20 year olds from German Universities.
