@CarefreeMuratcan I completely agree. For Morecambe I except the 'B Team', but any PL league side deserves our respect and only a handful of changes as best. Even a good Championship side we should be wary of, having seen some of the 'B Team' perform recently!

@chiswickblue.....take your point but Morecombe may be way down the pyramid but they are not Sunday Morning footballers.

It is Morecombe's "Cup Final" and if taken lightly could surprise a young not played together side.... I fully expect them to leave everything they have on the pitch and fight as hard as they can.

Put out a strong side if not the strongest by all means and get it settled as early as possible But remember it is a one-off game and Morecombe have nothing to lose ⚠️🍌

Ugochukwa Dyer

Too weak for me that.  Personally I’d go something like

                                 Jorgensen

Acheampong    Tosin.     Disasi.    Veiga

                    KDH.     Chukwuemeka

            George.       Nkunku.       Felix

                                       Guiu

Half hour run out each for Reece James and Lavia.   Also I’m assuming Casadei is no longer an option.

Quite right Chara.

I think it needs to be a strong XI. We legitimately need a good result now really.

Jorgensen

Achaempong Disasi Tosin Veiga

KDH Enzo

Madueke Nkunku Felix

Guiu

Rest the players from the weekend, but it still needs to be relatively strong and it’s the chance for the ‘B team’ to get some more minutes. If we can get some minutes towards the end for James and Lavia as well, that will be bonus.

If Lavia is missing from the bench again, it’ll be a concern.

The players have had a busy festive period, the U21s play against L1 and L2 opposition in the EFL Trophy and Morecambe are currently 23rd in L2.

I would do anything to avoid seeing Veiga, KDH, Felix and Guiu in the starting XI. I would rest anyone likely to start against Bournemouth - hopefully meaning Acheampong and Madueke.

Why is that?

You think Josh needs a rest? I think it would be a great opportunity to get some more minutes under his belt

I don't think that the mentioned players will have long-term futures at the club, or will even play a significant part in this season. More could be gained by taking a look at some other players from the academy.

I think 90 minutes on Saturday might affect Josh ahead of hopefully 90 minutes on Tuesday so I would have him on the bench.

no subs being used, clear B-team only squad, You are absolutely right this is a 14 man squad.  It will really struggle if we get CL entry.
Trouble is clearing those players 15-25 in the squad is going to be really hard if they don't even get sub appearances.

Yes Morecambe should be a C team and not the close to the first team X! that started against Barrow who are better than Morecambe.

I am surprised you say that about Viega and Guiu.

Viega has broken through into the Portugal side and is still only 21. Guiu has done pretty well in the CL for someone who has only just turned 19.  I wouldnt be writing their Chelsea careers off.

Edit - if any of them are going to play any sort of part this season, they need minutes in games like this.

I'd not risk playing through dodgy hamstring duo today. Far too cold, and no matter what the leg muscles will get cold.

Look at past nights game, Villa vs W/Ham, 2 hamstrings done in the first half.  Today might not be the day. If they do get minutes,  do it from the start where proper and full warm-ups/stretches will be able to be completed before bring launched into a game. Going straight into a game from the bench increases the risk as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely. As someone from the dodgy hamstrings brigade I am worrying about walking to the ground today!
