March 11, 20232 yr Well that turned out to be a rather pleasing afternoon, thanks go to Mr Potter and his merry band of footballers.
March 11, 20232 yr Really good performance I liked Mudryk up front. Even when he wasn't getting the ball, his movement let Havertz and Felix in several times. He was very unlucky not to get a goal too. It feels like things are starting to calm down now. Just take it game by game and see where we end up.

It was kind of even in terms of number of chances but ours were considerably better. Two of theirs were from Kepa mistakes as well. We had two disallowed for the closest of offsides and Felix hit the post. I think even though the stats show they had more shots and shots on target, it didn't really feel like they were likely to stop us and we were far more dangerous.
March 11, 20232 yr Isn't this a straight red or do I not understand the rules? It's like he has two goes at raking his shins.
March 11, 20232 yr @Proud-Blue It certainly looks like a straight red, but then Amartey’s very high “follow through” into Havertz’ chest could also have been a straight red. The reffing today was at its usual let the opposition kick lumps out of Chelsea standard. I think the fact we won means we’re not cursing the ref more. Edited March 11, 20232 yr by chrisb
March 11, 20232 yr Missed all the action today as been a bit busy but sounds like a good performance again. 3 wins in a row. Does that class as turned the corner yet? But I can see it all on MOTD without having to listen to old big ears waffling on with his bullshite . And I also get to see Liverpool lose 😄 Oh I might just crack open a six pack!!

Winds me up so much that VAR have had a chance to look at this for as long as they want and still decide it’s not a red card. When you see some of the things VAR overturn, it just makes it even more infuriating.

Looks like we are over the very worst but there is still a way to go with the rebuild Also, imho we shouldn't be looking at short spells of good, poor or indifferent results. Instead, take an overall look at how we are doing at the end of this season, then look again to next Xmas and see if there's gradual but consistent improvement over longish periods of time. Looking ahead to this time next season, I think we should be good enough by then to be in a serious chance of top four. If we're not, then I think GP will be in trouble. Leicester hit the bar, had a shot cleared off the line and missed two absolute sitters (Amartey 1st half point blank header, Dewsbury-Hall's 2nd half mis-kick). Not making any broader point about the performance, result, coach etc., just think it's not really defensible to say number but not nature of chances were equal. It was at points quite end-to-end, a game of real chances for both ... Perhaps a concern given Leicester hadn't managed a shot on target for two whole league games prior. In fact, what pleased me is that we did give up space, played on the counter and actually scored a goal (Chilwell's) from something that was barely even a chance. Usually we absolutely labour to just miss something presentable, so to score from a first-time effort was very enjoyable.

Them hitting the bar, was a deflected shot from 25 yards Us hitting the post was a clear good chance created I think that's (part) of the point being made We could have been 3-0 up before they scored theirs.
March 11, 20232 yr Much better, really pleased for Potter. He’s taken a lot of shit lately deserved perhaps but as always a bit over the top. The team has the potential to be really exciting with some time under its belt. Just need more goal scorers and a half decent keeper and we can’t be too far off challengers. Onwards and upwards!

I'm sure it is. I don't see how it matters, though. If we'd hit the bar with a deflected shot, had a shot cleared off the line and missed two sitters, I don't think the consensus would be "ah well, not real chances anyway". Leicester had real chances. It's just an observable fact that stands alone from any broader analysis of the match. Which we, imo, deservedly won.

We both think we deserved to win. We had better and more chances. I think we are agreeing?

I'm not saying anything very complicated, so I'm struggling to see why you aren't following ... Leicester had plenty of very good chances. Another day, you'd not be surprised to see someone of them go in. Certainly we've all sat on this forum licking our wounds over similar or even lesser chances not taken this season. I was disagreeing with a suggestion otherwise. But that's playing on the counter, isn't it. For all its risks, I think it suits where we are right now much better. The last two games are some vindication of that.

I realise we are a long way from title contenders, just throwing it out there that maybe , just maybe Potter maybe isn’t a totally useless coach. Too early to say with authority I know, but maybe he’s perhaps getting to know the players he inherited a couple of months …their strengths and weaknesses. And maybe he’s getting the benefit of the injured returners especially the full backs. Maybe he’s getting his vision of how he wants us to play together. And maybe calling for his dismissal a few weeks ago was a tad premature. We are climbing the table, we are in the quarters of the CL and are playing some nice stuff. We are not going to be relegated so how about we give GP until the end of the season then reassess?
