  1. It is wild. Having spent £600m in a year we really should be one of the best teams in the world. Maybe we have the talent there to be that with the right hand on the wheel - but the evidence certainly suggests otherwise at the moment. I think most XIs you can put together look quite strong on paper with just 2 or 3 extra additions but unfortunately the game isn't played there.
  2. Probably for the best that one of our bright young talents wasn't around to be corrupted by this dumpster fire of a season.
  3. We are setting the bar really low if all we are after is someone who is happy to come and sit on the bench.
  4. KK has been Pony but you can't honestly believe Mee or Tarkowski are Chelsea quality? (Maybe if the aim is to finish where we did this season but we clearly have higher ambitions than that).
  5. Yeah take the football out of it and the sand is much more intelligent.
  6. Every time I see Thibaut play I can't help but think what would have happened if we'd loaned him to some proper sh*t hole where he wouldn't have wanted to go back to 😂 I know he isn't popular but he's world class and we'd be so much better off with him in goal.
  7. Being realistic - every single member of our first team squad is one of the best footballers on the planet. Whilst I get that's how people talk about people down the pub etc. it's quite clearly wrong to suggest anyone is sh*t - just maybe not good enough for where Chelsea want to be which is the best team in the world and few players are good enough for that and it's not a lsight on them.
  8. Martinez wouldn't be my first choice but have to say, I would be pretty thrilled with the others - particularly Rice and Lautaro. Rice could be transformative for our midfield. Lautaro will draw criticism and yes he is definitely streaky however, I think he might be the best available to us - the third best striker on the market after Kane and Osimhen. He is very capable, hard working, quite a versatile forward and he has a bit of that dog in him which we sorely need.
  9. Yeah great news. I mean if Pep thinks he can add to what is currently the best team in the world then i'm sure he has nothing to offer midtable Chelsea.
  10. I'm sorry but I can't buy in to Silva not being a leader. I think he has very much been a leader in his time here. His professionalism, putting his body on line the line and always being available at his age, his talking team mates through games, the way he talks to the media., his sheer ability and mere presence on the pitch - all lift the team.
  11. If we get rid of everyone who hasn't been as good so far this season we would be left with Enzo, Chilwell and... that might be it to be honest.
  12. I would say Jose and Conte's reigns at Spurs aren't a glowing endorsement of why we should be willing to hire Pochettino. Football is partisan and emotional and it's what makes it great. These feelings matter because the first time it goes wrong the fans would be after Pochettino - so why make the appointment when you know that extra failure point is there? It's the same way that the first time there was any sign of cracks the Everton fans were always going to go after Benitez despite him being the best manager they've had on paper for a while.
  13. Did you really not feel anything like that during Frank's time? A club legend at the helm, James, Tomori, Gilmour, Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham in the squad. from the academy. Felt like a fun time to me and I was really proud of the club in his first season.
  14. The opinion I keep seeing spouted that really gets my goat is that "Chelsea fans need to grow up - this isn't the Abramovich era anymore and they aren't going to win every game. Things will take time and they need to adjust their expectations". I think match going fans have been pretty patient with Potter and no one can tell me the squad we have should be in the bottom half of the league and dropping points to Everton, Villa, Southampton etc. this regularly. I think we all know it's been a challenging time but there is a minimum standard based on the talent in the squad alone.
  15. Yeah... Because they were paying for a big shiny stadium? Because the atmosphere and feel around the ground changed completely when they left their home?
  16. One thing I find strange from people i've seen online who are adamant we should move, is there seems to be an idea that moving guarantees us a seat at the top table and makes us competitive. In reality there are plenty of examples of that not being true - Spurs look likely to still just be Spurs at their new place regardless of how impressive it is, West Ham have moved and are now in a relegation battle and even Arsenal were pony for a long time in their new stadium (or perhaps a lot of these teams are partly pony BECAUSE of their new stadium). Mentions of Wembley and the twin towers further my belief that the grass isn't always greener - after all these years I still don't like the new Wembley and the generic bowl just doesn't feel "special" to me despite having watched Chelsea lift however many cups there in person. We could move, continue our recent backslide and then we've traded in our history for absolutely nothing. Then we are just an also ran club in a new soulless bowl. Yesterday I was reluctantly pro-moving but the more debates I see, the more ardent in my belief we need to stay.
  17. Quite a lot i'd imagine. I've only just turned 33 and I went there multiple times.
  18. As a wise man once said Plus just the fact it's Stamford Bridge where the club has called home since the very beginning whatever stadium is on top of it. It's all nonsense of course but it isn't and it does mean something.
  19. There is absolutely zero chance this happens.
  20. I mean, what other argument could they have? You don't necessarily have to agree with it or put the same amount of worth in it but there is something to be said for it being home for the club and its fans. Fulham Broadway, the same faces, the same pubs, the same pre-match meal, the same walk to the ground. The smells, the sights and the sounds. All the memories the place holds - it's all worth something. Ultimately, the sensible decision is probably that we move however, it's not something that should be taken lightly and we should absolutely exhaust every possibility before we do. The new place will feel like home eventually (How long does that take? I don't know but i'm sure the new stadium can't have the same place in a lot of Spurs fan''s hearts as WHL) and we can forge a new history there but it will never be Stamford Bridge - especially to certain generations of fans.
  21. Out of curiosity what exactly is wrong with that as a comment? Right now he has probably found minutes more difficult to come by as he is an out and out chalk on your boots winger. We have been playing a system where the wingbacks are our focal point and arguably our main attacking outlet. If you put Mudryk in the side he is either in spaces he isn't comfortable in (trying to play as a 10 or centre forward or getting in the way of Chilwell.
  22. I think it's a combination of things. It's the balance of the squad - as I alluded to we sorely lack one or 2 of the other type in midfield and a De Bruyne or Foden in there changes a lot. It also comes down to coaching - the only time we have had an elite coach we won the Champion's League and were going great guns the following season until injuries/disaster struck. Lastly, the fact that these guys are good players doesn't change the fact that there have been various problems with other areas of the squad - centre forward, goalkeeper, wing back depth...
  23. For those of you who are so happy for Kovacic to leave and believes he adds nothing to this team, I was just reading this article on the Athletic. It talks a bit about Pep's philosophy and suggests Kovacic and Mount would be perfect for their midfield later in the piece (and that City are supposedly keen). Interestingly, we still lack 'destructive' players in midfield (Gallagher may be the only one?) in my opinion but throwing away 2 brilliant 'pausa' players in the process seems mad to me.
  24. I could be wrong and money talks but I think Lukaku thinks way too much of himself and his standing in world football to chip off to the Middle East at this point in his career. I know no one thinks more of themselves than Ronaldo but there is obviously a big difference in age there and Lukaku will think he has more left to give - even though he's probably wrong.
  25. I've always had the impression that Jody was a really good coach and had my suspicions that behind the scenes he was a lot to do with the coaching/tactics and Lampard was the figure head and dealt with the players.
