  1. Bet Pep is pleased to see how well Palmer is doing!
  2. Must be / have been a management consultant …. I was one too, MFOR indeed, although occasionally spiced by some interesting stuff. On the other hand, same qualities are required for anything involving selling - whether goods, services or policies - lobbying etc. Did that, too.
  3. Lived in Ringwood as a youth - we used to visit Bournemouth for concerts etc, bus there and try to hitch home, usually falling back on walking - only 12 miles, so usually back before the bus to school. Police car stopped us one night and wouldn't offer us a lift - just a wigging for being out late. Asked us where the nearest filling station was, he being new in the area, so we sent him "5 miles up the Horton Road" and off he went. No petrol stations up the Horton Road, and not many off it neither. Hope he enjoyed the walk. Karma.
  4. Provided we don’t go “all blue” and hire Pep Pocket-Dice
  5. Also from the ‘Eye - is that a Chelsea hat I see? Will no corner of the Press leave us alone?
  6. From today’s Private Eye
  7. Nope, @jasonb, not even on MOTD - as we wnt to the village pub quiz instead. Probably for the best.
  8. Has anyone else noticed we have no more home games on a Saturday for the rest of the season? What went wrong?
  9. In the event, Mr Pain(in the arse) had been told in no uncertain terms to behave - notable “looks” from his long-suffering missus betrayed this - satisfied myself with gently teasing him about his (lack of) stature. And enjoying a nice Chablis. Was tempted, but preferred the browny points I’ve gained by refraining from nutting him. You’ve always seemed fairly personable to me. It was tempting, and I confess I tried it - until ‘er upstairs started banging on the door and asking if I had dysentery. No thanks. I’ve gone off Welshmen for some reason.
  10. Had been looking forward to watching this via stream, but alas my life partner has invited her two oldest friends for lunch, one with the most insufferable bore known to mankind. The chances of hiding in the den with an ipad without that feckwit crashing in to interrogate me about my latest business venture, pension fund performance, golf handicap and latest clubhead design, his daughter's burgeoning career and my children's lack of their first million, or his home rugby performance (Wales - he was born in London, and became Welsh when he hit his 30s) ..... you get it ...... is sadly zero. Can't even take solace in an overdose of gin, as I'd likely lose it and crown the bugger. This evening I shall go to the pub. Then watch MOTD.
  11. Just got home - what a game - the crowd went mental when that last goal went in. The Bridge was absolutely rocking. Criticism of some players deserved - Cucu for instance - but he should also be praised, played well most of the game. Caceido and Sterling … well … hmmm. Our defenders seem to be learning, but I wish they’d do it at Cobham. I dunno, tired and certainly emotional, but we seem to be getting in gear. Keep it up chaps.
  12. So 20% rise in ticket prices scares off ST holders, thus more space for corporates?
  13. Well, well … https://m.independent.ie/sport/soccer/international-soccer/daniel-mcdonnell-if-gus-poyet-is-the-answer-what-do-the-fai-want/a1013243227.html … maybe an old friend was right. His real name is Gustave O’Poyet.
  14. It’s not true. He’d have mentioned the severe damage it can cause a Ferrari when someone tries to lever off the alloys with a jemmy. And Bier Head bitter doesn’t smell that bad?
  15. Thanks for the extra info - think I’ll watch the match. Missed it due to a gathering of the clan …
  16. Blimey, that Emma's got a temper on her, hasn't she? Thing is, had that been the other way around he'd have been headline news. Not what I expect from our women's manager ...
  17. You guys are amazing - this forum is a Waitrose among fora!
  18. And it’s affordable to go to the match, too. £12 for an OG in the west stand. Great atmosphere, although what sounded like “ziggerzagger” sung in soprano voices sounds a bit weird …
  19. Just had a call from Frankie’s manager: offer of a free meal. Result!
  20. So we get Barcelona. Hmmm. Not an inspiring night last night (Frankie’s “grill” couldn’t get a meal in the table despite having over an hour to do so, so daughter and I had to make do with a pasty from the West Lower bar), and the girls knew they had it in the bag, so they didn’t seem to be trying. Crowd were pretty quiet, and it was odd to watch a match with the entire Harding empty. Felt like Covid had come back.
  21. From today's mirror (OK, it's a rag, but what the hell ...): "Michael Gove has apologised for failing to declare VIP hospitality he enjoyed at three football matches costing almost £1,800. The Tory Cabinet minister was placed under investigation after admitting he did not register the freebies provided by Queens Park Rangers with parliamentary authorities." £600 a seat at QPR? I thought they gave them away, or even paid spectators ....
  22. Afraid their women aren’t filthy enough
