  1. Has this been moved? Could have sworn it was midweek ?
  2. Is that how you gained your … ahem …. affliction …, @chrisb?
  3. When you’re satirising, it’s a good idea to add 😉. Otherwise people might think you’re deluded, or a bit of an arse. I’m sure you’re neither.
  4. Dunno. Left him in the dust. Wore them out yonks ago - Billy Whizz, me. Graduated to baseball boots, then trainers, now me gardening boots or carpet slippers.
  5. RE-2012/2021, there was a clear difference - we'd screwed up the Moscow final and wanted to finally get a CL cup in the cabinet. Hence the win was much more than cathartic - it was positively "Gary Neville orgasmic". My youngest lad, normally a shy and retiring soul, ran round the green in his underpants having won a bet that if we won he'd do so, and we danced round the living room shortly after when the penny dropped: Sp*rs were out of Europe for the following year. Icing and cakes. Contrast that with 2021, when Covid had cast a spell over us all. Simply not up there. Bit of a damp squib, to be honest. Sorry, we may have been lucky in 2012, and 2021 may have been technically a greater final, but to say that 2021 was more significant is simply missing the point. I've won prizes in my life, but nothing will ever compare with beating Mike Rice in the 220 yards sprint - not a formal competition, just me racing a swanky bugger with a wealthy father and new spikes when I was running in worn-out Woolworth's plimsoles. 24 seconds, close to the county record. It's not always the technical win that matters, it's what it means to the individual. And you can never take that away from me. So 2012 was more important, and more significant, and more of a triumph than 2021. And if you think otherwise, then please go tell the other members of your planet and leave me - us - to wallow in our self- deception.
  6. Excellent. And it looks like the Tube is running - no strikes - so won’t have to drive in and walk back to the car in the rain. KTBFFH
  7. Wonder if that’s the full 42k, or an allocation. Looking forward to joining family for a rocking atmosphere this pm. Grabbing a burger at Frankie’s after, so wife, son and daughter will have to endure the Villa match on the TVs there….
  8. Spotted dick without custard is like the Stones without Charlie Watts. Sticks in your throat.
  9. I think @NoblyBobly offered a great one ….
  10. Where’ve you been, Michael? You went walkabout for a while there - we missed you
  11. Might add a warning. Might not still be there, but there was a bar on Main Street - full of truckers and redneck types - shared the John with a tranny bar next door. Great sport was had by all not warning visitors. Needless to say, I was caught. Bastards.
  12. No quite - one of us did call “give ‘er one for us” as we left the balcony. It was a bit gross …
  13. And yet, and yet … I recall enjoying a nightcap in the balcony of my salubrious hotel (Mercure, Omaha, as I recall) with a colleague on a business trip, and watching the antics of a couple enjoying similar pursuits in the pool. When they retired to a lounger to dry off in what seemed a most enjoyable manner, our English reserve got the better of us and we thought fit to retire to the bar.
  14. Next match is Villa away, @NoblyBobly, so don't get too excited. A second 0:5 drubbing on the trot is more likely than a 6:0 win. A propos nothing, odd that the man “The man with the blue and white hair” hasn't had the sledging that Kevin Pietersen had a few decades ago in cricket - "A seagull's shit .... in yer hair". Although I'd still give Jackson more time to get his act together, God knows he's deserved some cat-calling more than KP.
  15. Yup. It's that time of year when my better half informs me that I've been moaning about the team for the whole year and saying I'm not renewing my ST, only to do so anyway. The difference between this year and last has been heavier than normal usage of the ticket exchange. So will I renew this year? God alone knows. Rather depends on how much they put up prices. Clearlake is probably thinking that it'll get more income from converting ST seats to executive boxes, but I think those days must be fading fast - who wants to take your clients to a match where the home team gets thumped / (God forbid) relegated? At least ST income is guaranteed for the rest of the season ...
  16. Well that’s good news on a bad day. Every cloud …
  17. Just seen the result. Glad I didn’t watch. Arsenal.
  18. Hope they’re not ours ….
  19. My missus is taking me to a film in the village hall. At least there will be wine in plenty. So I can't watch. There is a God.
  20. I do hope that is a personal nightmare of yours?
