Absolutely. I just hope it is remembered by us fondly and we are not reminded of it for eternity by the rest of the football world if it all goes horribly tits up in some way, in the same way the Torres transfer was.

I never saw Jorginho as an effective DM, easily bypassed, slow, unable to tackle. He was really no more than a training dummy defensively. He was really only a DM in the sense he was the midfielder the defense passed to (and almost immediately passed it back to them). He may be missed as one of the chaps but I feel as a player he will hopefully quickly be forgotten.

I'm not going to lie, I wouldn't be upset if we were consigned to the Conference next season as it would mean we were travelling to some new places and also we could have a crack at completing the trophy cabinet. Of course it would be difficult to achieve should we win the CL this season 😉

I'm with you on the first part Jane however I couldn't care less about the players we've sold to them, certainly latterly. David Luiz, Willian and Petr, none of them lived up to the hype they achieved with us and I'm hoping fervently that Jorginho can derail the Arsenal express this season.

Quick aside but Mrs Moly and I have taken to using Gousto/Hello Fresh/Mindful Chef for the evening meal. While it can appear to be a bit pricey once you've exhausted the initial deals if you bounce from one to the other you normally get offers to return. The real savings are in the huge reductions in food waste though. The recipes are amazing too. They can almost make vegan meals vaguely palatable 😆

Notwithstanding our huge spend this year the league is becoming ever more competitive. Twenty years ago it was the Big 4, laterly it became the Big 6 when Spuds and City joined ourselves, United, Scum and Arsenal at the top table. Now with Newcastle getting the backing of the Middle East it is the Magnificent 7. Top managment will become ever more important in order to produce success which has been shown by Pep and Klopp. Hopefully Potter will be able to make the step up otherwise he may end up just holding us back.

It actually did occur to me on my way back from Tesco that Clearlake's first year in charge bears serious comparison to Roman's when we saw Crespo, Cole, Duff, Veron, Makelele, Mutu et al walk through the door. Hopefully it all presages a similar amount of league success.

To attempt to breathe a little objectivity into things, it is useful having the Scum only a place ahead of us in the league and out of both cups and soon to be out the CL to Madrid as it tends to redirect the ridicule from third party fans that would otherwise have been aimed at us.

Unless we can come up with a midfield combination worthy of the name we will continue to struggle. Personally I just hope we can formulate a plan to take on Europe otherwise I think we can forget a route in via top 4 as we stand.
