  1. If we did that it would be the most anticlimactic season ever. The whole point of winning the title is that you are the beasts of the league, not some playground bully that doesn't turn up for the big games. Oh wait, that's where we are at the moment only with losses against the clubs fighting relegation.. Say Spuds screw up and lose to Sheffield and we end up unbelievably in 5th it certainly won't feel like we deserve it. I don't feel that much better than last year to be honest. Yes the future is bright but we are where we are mainly because the clubs around us have faded.
  2. Back in the good old days before Health and Safety.
  3. Well there's the nudist beach and hundreds of rainbow vegan restaurants as well as the noisy neighbours in Hove. Ooh, don't forget Amex head office too.
  4. Actually I'm pleased Gallagher will captain the side on Sunday as he's led us through the second half of the season. Also it would be so Spursy if we overhauled them for 5th after all this.
  5. Apologies for reviving an almost dead thread but I thought it was the most relevant for this thought. How are we going to avoid a penalty going into the new season considering the supposed financial hole we've dug ourselves into? It's surely exacerbated by our need to go back into the transfer market to plug the holes our current squad has, particularly concerning the lack of experience. I've been hearing some worrying rumours that we might consider selling Cobham which, if true, is short termism gone mad? Some people have suggested that we just hold up our hands, take a ten point deduction and move on. The trouble with that though I would have thought is that this years loss will continue to be part of the equation for three more years (?) Another question that arises is that UEFA rules are even more stringent than the PL so how will that work if we do indeed end up in Europe next season? After the optimism of the last pre-season which didn't end up translating into the season itself I wonder where our heads will be by the time we turn up to Stamford Bridge in August, if indeed there is a Stamford Bridge to turn up to?
  6. When I lived down south I lived near Dorking so was more an A24 Worthing kind of guy. Brighton and the A23 was just so Croydon, although Iived there too, pre-riots and pre-tram.
  7. For all the talk of inverted fullback, isn't it just 3 at the back as Cucurella seems to be playing in a Fabregas type position?
  8. Mate I was in primary school when we won the FA Cup in 1970. Little did I know that would be the last domestic trophy I'd see for 37 years. Cynicism was bred into me during the intervening years 😃
  9. Forest will be desperate for something from this to ensure survival while we are overdue a brain fart. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we drop points here while Newcastle pull away for sixth.
  10. We've moved into 7th thanks to a nine goal swing between ourselves and Manure. It's now in our hands to stay ahead of them with them playing Arsenal next.

  12. Are you also allowing for the odd brain fart we're currently famous for?
  13. Great result although I can't see us overhauling both Manure and Newcastle before the end of the season. Aside from United having to play Arsenal and the two teams above us having to play each other the run ins are fairly similar. Given our proclivity to bugger things up I doubt we'll win all our remaining games either although we really should, injuries allowing. Still, in the meantime, let's continue to bask in the joy of doing the double over the October League champions.
  14. Apart from the keeper no-one older than 21.
  15. The bench has to be the least experienced in Premier League history. Barring the GK no squad number lower than #31.
  16. Wow, that's unbelievable. That said I think we'll still lose as Gallagher aside the squad doesn't care about the animosity between the two sets of fans.
  17. While there has to be a serious audit of the medical/conditioning department I think we also need to look at the due diligence done during player acquisitions. Desasi aside I think all the players that have been out this season and last have had a history of persistent absence during their careers.
  18. I remember him giving a goal away with pretty much his first touch in his first game for us. Thereafter he rarely put a foot wrong with Ashley Cole like clearances off the line, Marcel Desailly like shadowing of players out to touch and John Terry like heart and leadership on the pitch. The guy cares and we love him for it.
