  1. Before I get stuck into your post, I must stress that I think you're one of the nicest, most reasonable posters on here, but imho, this post typifies the unfairness on here towards the current manager. Any manager should be sacked when he is not doing a good enough job. Fair enough. But if that manager only gets one year, then isnt only fair for the next to get the one year as well? Then you go onto talk about the squad being top four or top 5-8. Covering a lot of basis there without saying what you think the quality of this squad is. We are currently 9th with a hand in hand and could easily finish in that 5-8 bracket, but if we did we should still sack the manager but keep the next one if he did the same. Is this a top four squad right now? Is it a top 5-8 right now? What about domestic cups, which we haven't won one for 6 years. To better the current manager he'd need to win a cup or get to two finals. Sack the next one if he doesn't get too 4 or win a cup?; All this achieved with two shit keepers who've cost dear. Individual brain farts that have cost us dear An injury crisis of the like we've never seen resulting in us never being able to play a settled, first choice back four. No quality CF. I won't bother listing the undeniable facts of the progress being shown as that's been done to death but always discarded. 2 options here. Play safe and sensible and see how Poch can do with a fit squad. Bit more experience. A settled defence. We'll be challenging for top four if those three happen! Or get rid and start all over again with yet another new manager who'll probably want to play a different style of football. If it's a pragmatic, defensive one, then we can kiss good bye to seeing Palmer flourish. Time wasted with the new manager having to get to know the players, who'll fit his system etc. Imho, if we get a new manager, unless we are extremely lucky, it's highly more likely we'll at best tread water next season and then watch the calls for another sacking.
  2. Poch isn't "my man" he's our clubs man. I never rated him as an elite level manager who could get us back to challenging for the league. I never even wanted him to come here. it's just that I want our managers to be given a couple of seasons, that's all. I'd ask for the same if we appoint De Zerbi.
  3. The Telegraph is saying they lacked soul and motivation. That's about as bad as it gets in terms of criticism for a manager of a football team and ties in very well with my comment before their latest drubbing that his players have downed tools. I know our club does some strange and mad things at times, but appointing Dr Zerbi would top them all. That said, i'm no longer worried that he'll be in the frame if Poch is sacked.
  4. Then maybe we should learn a lesson about not giving up on players too soon.
  5. I agree with nearly all of that. I think it's a mentality issue at the moment. Getting them right to be as up for the games against a Burnley as they are against a City. Getting them right to play their best under the pressure of having to beat the teams the should be beating 9 times out of 10.
  6. It's looking more likely that he won't make it here than will make it here. However, he is still a very inexperienced for a player of his age and there is some talent there that might just blossom, do I don't want us to give up on him just yet. Give him one more season and then make a decision on his future here.
  7. Another appalling performance surely ends any chance of De Zerbi coming here or going to any top club in the summer. Actually looks like the Brighton players are downing tools.
  8. I thought there were genuine signs of progress for a couple of months of this season, but sadly he's gone back to square one again and looks clueless.
  9. Poch was given two years. The big important question is, if he stays, will we be where we want to be this time next year, not this year. We have played the fourth placed team away teice this season and both times we were close to what I'd say was out classing them, and that's with all of our problems. There will definitely be more poor performances along the way (might be anothe one coming Thursday) but in the long-term this team is only going to get better and better, while I predict Villa are already at their limit.
  10. Sorry, Alex, just getting a bit frustrated and letting off some steam due of the constant knocking of our manager, because no matter how well we play it's never seems to be good enough. I agree that football isn't worth getting so steamed up about. I generally don't take it that seriously. Disappointed when we play poorly or lose but I soon get over it and look forward to the next game. Chelsea also don't have to be great for me to really enjoy watching us play, and I am really enjoying so many of our games these days. Fantasticlly enertaining games of football week in week out🙂 Entertaining football has always been important to me🙂
  11. Thats how I see it too! Of course, in football when a team isn't doing as well as expected, the owners can't sack the players so it's always the manager who has to go.
  12. So Poch gets the blame for everything bad and zero credit for anything good. This is an embarrassing and childish vendeta against our own fecking manager.👎👎👎👎👎👎 I almost hope that Poch does get the sack and the next manager belly flops and you're all calling for another sucker to takeover next Xmas. This kind of joke support doesn't deserve success!😡
  13. Inconsistencies are down to the manager and players making mistakes and them still finding their way. It was always going go take time for Poch to see whats working and what's not working. Time for hin and the players to figure out why they have played well against City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle and had bonkers wins over Utd and Spurs, but struggled against the teams they should have beaten. Even so, there is nothing Poch could have done about two keepers who've made basic errors which cost us points which would have been enough for top 6 and European football. Not his fault that the one experienced attacker has continued to perform far below the level we needed. If you want to ignore the positives and concentrate on the negatives then it will be easy to make a strong case for sacking Poch. I prefer to accept he's not done everything right but can see a lot of important things he is getting right. The things that he is improving is harder to improve the things the faults that are still obvious and that's why I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing - gone are the games where we looked certain to drop points if the opposition scored a single goal. We are now consistently competetive in ganes against the best teams. Scoring and creating a lot more, which is vital in this more attacking era. Players being given the freedom to express themselves and enjoy playing their football. Fighting back to win or draw in games we looked like losing and would have lost last season. Two keepers. Individual brain farts and chronic injury problems have cost us the most this season, none of which are not the fault of Poch. Just a 7/10 keeper, fewer brain farts and a fitter squad will see a significant improvement next season. Risng confidence and the team having a years experience will further improve our position. Add to that a couple of good signings and we could well challenge for fourth next season.
  14. With our chronic injury problems, lack of experienced players, players still trying to find their feet at this level, two keepers who've not been good enough, Enzo playing while not fit. wouldn't inconsistency be the one thing you'd expect us to be at this point? You really think Poch should have been able to come in and get nearly everything right nearly every week with all that against him in his first season? I think you and nearly everyone else on here are being extremely harsh with your expectations this season, especially since everyone was accepting this is a tough job and it will take time to turn the team around. What I'm seeing is exactly what I thought I'd be seeing from us this season, which is why I'm able to accept the bad and really bad performances. I'd have been astonished if there hadn't been these ups and downs. Another game against a top side where we showed real quality. Also yet another damn good game of football involving us.
  15. Cruel luck! That said, the bigger, long-term picture is more important. The team has its ups and downs but the these players are playing for the shirt and manager. We are going in the right direction!
  16. Also without Palmer being near his best Also good to see we are not settling for a point and going for the win we deserve.
  17. Hopefully a turning point for him after a terrible run of form.
  18. I'd go as far as saying we've looked a class above Villa.
  19. I'm a betting man and I'll be putting money on us next season.
  20. I agree and crucially our squad has the potential for a lot more improvement than those above us.
  21. City, Arsenal and Liverpool are the only high quality teams. 4th place is well up for grabs for us and several other teams next season.
  22. Sorry, but Petrovich needs to be dropped. I'd rather our third choice be given a chance than keep playing a keeper who is struggling so much.
