Coming to the final straight in the Championship.  I hope Ipswich come up, it's not a good look if the same three relegated teams come straight back up.  Leicester, at the moment are a joke, Saints are a bit inconsistent and Leeds, I hate with a passion.

Just a small correction 🙂

Frank has done great work which hopefully will give him some much needed encouragement after what has gone on before. One step further next season Frank 💙

I used to love to hate Leeds...now I just hate them!

I would like to see WBA and Coventry back in PL, together with The Tractor Boys

A) Hawthorns being the highest placed ground, geographicly, a "mountain-ground" and "Norwegish"

B) I had the pleasure of visiting Highfield Road twice in the 70's. One of them was a 3-0 win over ManU and we were chased after the game by right wing  ManU fans wearing nazi helmets. I was young and could run fast 😁

C) Ipswich was a regular on Norwegian TV live fotball in the 70-80's -Mick Mills and John Wark

Ipswich on the brink of promotion after yesterdays win, and I am very happy for them, they've been out of the Prem for so long, and I remember their great sides of the late '70's early '80's with Thijsssen, Muhren, Wark, Mariner et al.    Don't mind WBA, Saints or Norwich coming back but if Leeds come back up, I hope we pay them back for that beating which was for me the beginning of the end for Tuchel.

Pleased to see Ipswich back up, but don't want Leeds up and don't really want any of the others, purely because they've all so recently been in the PL, I always like to see a new team (or a team we haven't seen in the PL for a while) come up.

Ipswich= great.

Of the 4 to compete themselves, I hope for WBA, then Norwich.

The two others, may the stay down, and preferably even more down next season 😁

I’m based at Ipswich train station so I’m not looking forward to when I’m at work for their home games next season! It’s been completely mad here since Saturday morning!

Well ok, Saints are back in PL and congrats to them.

Why there is a Trophy to the play off winner is very strange, though, IMO.

Southampton were very good after they settled, Leeds barely laid a glove on them

Best team won.

Well done Southampton, Leeds were very poor.  The game was pretty poor as well, I haven't seen a great play=off final for a long time TBH.

Huge Relief that its not Leeds.

Agree...but somewhat torn....the idea of beating Leeds always feels good but against that I really don't want them around all season.

Next question....who will stay up ?

The law of averages suggests that at least one of the promoted teams will stay up, this season was a one-off, the only other time all three promoted teams went down from the Premier League was 1997-98.  And here's another stat, since the three up three down system was brought in in 1973, never have the three relegated teams all come straight back up.

It's hard to say because we don't know where Leicester or Ipswich managers will be. All things being equal, if I had to guess, I think Ipswich might struggle but YMMV.

Leicester could be in strife if they both lose Maresca and cop a PSR points deduction to begin the season with.

Otherwise he's probably a strong case all three could go straight back down. So many moving parts still remain though yet so the landscape could significantly change between now and season's start.

glad Leeds lost. club with history my backside. Those lovable scallys from liddypool have us way behind Leeds in their hierarchy of otherness all because they had a 10 year period where they won a few things. never been a fan of this 'back where we belong' nonsense that some fans romantically dole out.

Probably better for us, our record is not that good at Elland Road.

And Southampton is closer to home

I don't expect anything less from the bin dippers.  Let's just leave them yo their Beatles and Cilla Bl;ack records, not to mention Thomas The Tank Engine videos

Our old friend Frank is doing a terrific job at Coventry.  He's not as vad a coach as his critics make out, unlike Rooney who must look a right mug now, the new Plymouth manager has given them a fighting chance of avoiding the drop.

I think Frank is good at this level at the moment and I think he could become good enough for the PL with the right club. He did well at Chelsea in his first season to be fair.

If he picked up the right experience and proved himself at the right level, would we take him back one day? I would!

We have only had 3 managers post RA who got less than 79 points over a whole season and didn't get sacked.
Sarri, who got 72 and won Europa League, and got poached though a lo of fans wanted to see him sacked.
Tuchel  who got 74 points + super cup + world club and had won CL in his first part season.
And the guy who got 66 points.

I'm biased but still can see things clearly even if possibly my conclusions are out of kilter.

SFL did well the first season with the transfer ban then had the three "let down" Star purchases who by and large didn't deliver,,,out goes Frank,,,,the "interim" gig was exactly that and in many ways a favour to Chelsea,,I get a bit annoyed every time I see that time listed as a failure on his part.

SFL did well enough at Derby but probably came to Chelsea a bit too soon but I know all here wish him well in his present job,,,will it show him to be able to coach at a higher level ?..I don't know but being biased I hope so,

Rather he packed it in than go the SlippyG route.

I’m talking about taking him back if he’d picked up more experience and proved himself at a higher level.

Lampard did well here in his first season, given what he came into. The second season he struggled.

People keep saying that.  He took an RA team to 66 points.   Could any other RA manager doing that get past Christmas?
Carlo got sacked with 71.  Conte with 70 (both had won the Prem the previous season).    Pochettino got sacked with a worse team after getting 63 points.

2nd season he was on 29 from 19 games, 4 points behind his average for 1st season.  I wouldn't call it struggling more, it just became more obvious he couldn't blame the players (which as we all know he tried to).

I loved Webbie and Hollins almost as much as players.  Never thought much of McCreadie or Vialli.    But that is how it goes.

The failure was clearly the clubs in bringing in a manager the players knew all too well and didn't respect.
It was one thing asking Thiago and Kepa to play for the former world class footballer in 2020 or 2019.  Quite another to ask them to play for their former manager in 2023.

But we sold Hazard and had a transfer ban

The guy who got 7 goals total playing for RM in the next 4 years...  lucky he was gone.
And we brought in Zouma, James, Mount, Tomori and Abraham all of which played a significant part on merit.
An expensive Pulisic joined the team having been bought/loaned back in January.
