With this number of players, with this coach, with this board, with these 8 year contracts, with the threat of the Creamcakes realising that a 10 year project doesn't work for them, with the continuous negative atmosphere that is at the club most of the time (and will return rapidly next time we lose 2 games in a row), with our scouts, with our inability to retain good players, with our medical track record which shows no sign of changing, with our reduced ability to spend for the next 7 years...

... with this manager and with our inability to hire a better one.

You can add the refs if you choose.

PL football is a game of short ladders and long snakes.image.thumb.png.ce6367973b408b6817d0e1997c92c61e.png

Top right and you can see the rare Tyranasaurus @xceleryx
a rare creature with the head and body of a snake which miraculously turn around into a ladder to the top.

Question, just how many magic mushrooms do you consume per day before coming on here to post?

No magic mushrooms, no lithium.  Other than ambition it is hard to find a single area of business this board have got right.

Amazon didn't make a cent for 5 years. If Bezos and his team had your mindset they would have shut up shop after the first year.

Long-term plans are just that!

Stop thinking about worst case scenarios for the next ten years and let the club get on with building the team we all want. Take a chill pill, relax and enjoy the good moments but accept the bad ones along the way to that team they are trying to build. It's only football after all🙂

Now you are being silly.  Amazon grew and grew and grew and had huge finance behind it which was happy with that.
The first metric was sales and it performed brilliantly.  The second was market leadership because they believed being No 1 gives you all the margin.

You tell me the metric CFC is targetting because unless it is contract length, or average squad age I really don't know what it is targetting.

And we have investors who have a 2 year horizon not a 10 year horizon like Amazon had.  And we have FFP which (unless you take them all to court) means the money spend stops very very soon, long before we get off the ground.

I suppose you could argue we have sold a lot of talent, more than any other club, that is true.
But we sure haven't got market leadership, not in Prem and we won't even be in Europe for a while, CL for a long while.

What you probably don't recall about the Big Internet stock boom up to 2000 was that there were many many attempts at making billions,  Many of them went bust.  I recall because I was a stock market analyst at the time in a related segment.

We are not Amazon.com.  We are not even LastMinute.com.
for those that remember (and quite ironically for the posters on this forum) We are Pets.com

One question.  To all these people who are so bullish right now and won't hear a word against the board, Have you looked at the fixture list for the next 6 weeks.  Is this really the right time to be so gung ho?

The worst case scenario for the next 10 years has happened.  Why are so many still keen to praise them for it.  They won't be here 10 years.  Only we will be here in 10 years.  I've accepted it.  I'm going to find the next 2 years a lot less disappointing than those who haven't.

Stop trying to force your narrative down everyone’s throats, it’s so boring. You’re doing it on a few topics at the moment, clearly to just try and wind people up and get a reaction.

I’m all for healthy debate, but it’s never that with you as you refuse to ever see another persons point of view or back down on the narratives you have set out, ignoring valid points/facts/stats that could become a good discussion point.

OK have your moment, but in 7 games time you'll find me on the positive side of this forum and many being extremely negative again.

I doubt there's a single poster on here who hasn't been critical of the owners and I also don't see anyone on here being gung ho either!  Patient and hopeful but nothing more than that.

As for the next 6 games. Again, that's just more very short term thinking!  We all know we're not a top side at this moment in time, so a run of poor results will be disappointing but not that telling for the long-term. After all, we've already performed well against City, Liverpool, Arsenal  and Spurs this season but nobody said we're back up there with the best just off the back of those good performances.

What moment am I having, exactly?

This all happiness and success period is actually very untypical for the  last 4 or 5 months I have been on the new site.
Very rarely have I been significantly more negative than the norm.
Maybe it is good for those who want to go with the positive knee jerking for a while.

I'll stick with a rational approach to both what we have seen over 18 months and what we are likely to see over next 18 months.

Just lets stop pretending all is well and the business plan is working.

As I say, if people want to take the relief of a few wins as a time to cheer up - that is fine.
And the Fulham game (as I have made clear in this thread) was definitely one of the more positive games we have had.

I am a bit lost, I’ve not been very positive about our club for quite a while. I’ve had the odd moment where I’ve enjoyed some short lived high points, but isn’t that what being a football fan should all be about?

Quick note..at no time has Sam claimed or acted like any sort of owner of cfcnet,,,,without his voluntary efforts..and others ....we would not exist.

I am a Droy "Enjoyer".,,not fan/believer..as rightly said he has a lot of sense amidst the digs and less than casual comments..... not everyones taste but Sam rightly called him for going too far,

Part of the give and take I hope!

Not as well stated by me as I would have liked but on my out to the Trading Post.

Might be wrong - I presumed that the "nominal owner" comment was aimed at me as if I was ruling on what people should think.
Ironic but in line with Mark's current theme.
Not Sam.

(And as Chara knows I have always respected that the input of the Mods and site supporters gives them a status to do and say what they want.  The old site often called out for new mods, I never volunteered, so I respect those that did).

Mine and Mark's jokey comments were in support of Sam.  Not trying to suggest anything negative at all.

This site is his baby.  We would have nothing without him.

No.  The nominal owner comment definitely referred to Sam.

He built a totally new site from scratch.  This isn't the old site under new ownership. We lost all access and this recreation was built in a few days from memory only.

Nope ,  it was a heads up so you'd wind your neck in a bit .

As for my current theme , if my current theme is " being bemused as you invent things everyone else supposedly thinks and rail against it " then consider yourself spot on.

Listen , take this in the nicest possible way , a lot of the content you provide , I find interesting and it invites debate and you're obviously a smart guy but you get on your high horse and talk down to the peasants who dare to disagree and it gets very old very fast.
